When the hotel was purchased on December 5, 2002 by an investment team led by Dan King and Gregory Hartmann (both Boulderites), they did what they do best. With their combined 40 years of hotel consulting and operations experience and the resources of HVS Hotel Management and HVS International, they evaluated all the options. Should this prime real estate (literally steps from the University of Colorado campus) be leveled to build a new "vanilla" hotel or even a residential condo development? Does Boulder really need another upscale, formal, high price hotel? They surveyed business, university, tourism and community leaders, as well as hotel guests. Where's the unmet need? What do guests want? The decision: Create a new concept. Revive and enrich this solidly built 40-year old hotel property with personality, color and energy that reflects and celebrates Boulder, Colorado - an eclectic and unique town that surrounds us. Keep it affordably priced! (Who really wants to pay more?) Provide a full-service, mid-priced, professionally operated hotel, for corporate/business and leisure guests, with "unexpected" customer service and amenities. Provide opportunities for travelers to quench their thirst for adventure and to experience the "local flavor." Create a fun hotel experience in an informal, casual setting - a "Boulder Outlook Hotel Experience."

When we started, we were nuts...and bolts, just like every other hardware store. But in the over forty years we’ve been around, we found that nuts and bolts alone will not make someone completely content. When our customers wanted something new, we got it for them. And we keep getting it for them. Now that we stock nearly three times as many items as "other stores" do (over 200,000 items, in fact), we’re asking you to ask more of us. From the beginning, McGuckin Hardware has worked hard to provide the best service and the best selection for its customers. McGuckin Hardware has become famous for having obscure specialty items in stock that are unavailable anywhere else. Over the years, McGuckin Hardware has grown and changed – but still able to provide the best service and to meet the changing needs of our customers. It is always with our customers in mind that we work towards better service and better selection. McGuckin Design Center is the place to go for select designer hardware, cabinets, and plumbing fixtures. It's Boulder's Kitchen and Bath Choice!

Choosing to use an E-Bike is an easy way to help reduce your carbon footprint. For every 500 miles an E-Bike is used in place of a car, approximately 25 gallons of fuel is saved. Along with the health benefits, it is more fun. Traffic snarls are not frustrating and stressful. In fact, the worse the jam, the more gratifying the ride. For the cost of one gallon of gasoline, you can recharge your electric bike or scooter about 60 times at 5 cents each time. A fully charged battery can take you up to 25 miles.

I believe in offering the best Hydroponic and organic supplies available. We do our best to maintain adequate stock at all times. We are quick to stock any item that is worth stocking. But we try to avoid the latest gimmicks. Before we stock an item, and make every effort to have it at all times, it must show itself to be a quality product with proven performance. Like I once heard a hardware store advertise, "anyone can stock every hammer, we stock only the best hammers; we do the homework for you". That's my approach to running a store. I also believe in customer service. I know when I buy something expensive and need help with it, either fixing a problem or how to use it, I WANT HELP, not excuses! So that's how I treat my customers. If they have a problem, we try to fix it. If they need advice or information, we will do our best to help them. Even the atmosphere of the store is designed to be relaxing and comfortable. Around here, customers come first!

The residents of Boulder City and County as well as neighboring municipalities are committed to leaving the legacy of a healthy, sustainable community, society, and planet to future generations. Unfortunately, most people within our community are uncertain about how to turn that desire into action in practical and effective ways. Of those who have the knowledge, many fear that deprivation and discomfort are among the costs of taking action. The CRC addresses this need by providing individuals with the answers, the products, and the services that make sustainable choices not just manageable, but comfortable and profitable.
